Apollo United Presbyterian Church has a rich history that started in the late 1700’s when settlers met in various homes, barns and in open-air meetings. It formally was founded around 1817. There were two previous church buildings, one in 1826 and one in 1866 prior to the current building of 1906. Today it stands as a pillar in the community serving the needs of its members and others in the community. A Food Pantry provides needed provisions and financial assistance. Prayer shawls are hand crafted and distributed and special events, such as a dinner for emergency responders’ volunteers, are held. Mission support goes to the Apollo Pool, Boy Scouts, a missionary in Ethiopia and disaster relief efforts among other causes. Special plans are in the works for special need families.
