Pastor Scott Fairman

Pastor Scott pastored for a number of years at South Baptist Church in Leesville, Louisiana and then became a Foreign Language Missionary through the Grand Coteau Baptist Mission. He worked with the French speaking Louisiana natives. It was during this time his Pennsylvania sister-in-law died at a young age and he returned to preach at the funeral. While returning home, his wife Shawn began to speak with him about the need for ministry she saw in this area. Although he wasn’t really interested in returning, she continued to draw his attention to the ministry needs. To make a long story short, circumstances suddenly opened the door to First Baptist Church of Apollo and they issued a call to him. He began his ministry there on September 1st in 2005. A native of this area and 1984 graduate of Kiski Area High School, Pastor Scott had joined the U.S. Army. Although raised in a Christian home and church, he said he was a “rough neck” all the way. It was during an exercise at the U. S. Army’s National Training Center in the Mojave Desert that he had an epiphany experience that changed his life. He came to the place where he knew he had to change his life. After his tour of duty he settled in Louisiana, married a Louisiana girl, Shawn, and entered the ministry.
